Who We Are:

The mission of the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center (PEOC) is to strengthen and empower the low-wage, immigrant community in Pomona, CA, and the Inland Empire. Our core work is to provide tools and resources for all immigrant workers and immigrant residents to improve their quality of life. We provide an opportunity for day laborers, household workers, street vendors and other low-wage immigrant workers in the community to find safe work at a fair wage, to organize and advocate for themselves in relation to policies that impact their lives, to obtain new trades and skills that improve their employability and quality of life, and to improve the overall conditions for all immigrant workers and immigrant residents in Pomona and the Inland Empire.

To achieve these goals the PEOC engages in job development, educational outreach on workers’ rights and immigrant rights, leadership development, civic engagement, immigration document preparation, housing justice and grassroots advocacy to promote or change policies that impact low-wage immigrant workers. In addition to its main site in Pomona, the PEOC organizes day laborer corners in the Inland Empire in San Bernardino County and Riverside County.

Job Description

The Associate Director will work closely with the PEOC Executive Director and the PEOC Staff to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization including the management of staff, programs and related human resources tasks. The Associate Director will also oversee the administration of certain aspects of the PEOC budget and collect data regarding allocation and use of the same to assist the Executive Director in grant writing and grant reporting.

Responsibilities: 

Support the Executive Director with grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

Support the preparation, execution, and monitoring of annual operating budget in conjunction with the Executive Director.

Track progress of PEOC programs toward goals, including activities and metrics outlined in grants and contribute to reporting requirements.

Office management support of PEOC’s physical offices in Pomona and Ontario

Serve as human resources manager for PEOC staff, developing and executing internal polices and professional development to ensure an efficient, productive and equitable work environment.

Support the Executive Director and Bookkeeper in financial and fiduciary matters.

Serve a critical role in management team by ensuring the advancement of the PEOC mission and vision.

Work with the ED, PEOC Staff, Board of Directors and regional coalition partners in developing and implementing the PEOC’s strategic plans.

Represent the PEOC in connection with Board of Directors meetings, local and statewide gatherings, and community events.

Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated ability and skills in grant writing, grant reporting and fundraising development

Minimum 3 years’ experience training, managing and leading high-functioning team.

Proficiency in accounting software and payroll software including QuickBooks, Pensoft, Peach Tree and others

Experience in developing and analyzing financial documents including profit and loss reports, operational budgets, cash flow analysis and others.

Strong proficiency in standard office suite programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word,

Cultural competency in working in various marginalized communities immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQ community, students, disabled and older adult workers

Fluent (speaking, reading, writing) in English and Spanish

Good interpersonal skills and well organized

Commitment to social justice and economic justice

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends

Salary and Benefits: 

  • $55,000 to $65,000 DOE
  • Full-time exempt position (100% time)

Work Environment

The Associate Director will be based at the PEOC offices in Pomona and Ontario, with occasional work in the field (around and in the Inland Empire) for purposes of community engagement, outreach and development.
